What is reiki?

Although spiritual energy has existed throughout time. Reiki was developed 100 years ago by Mikao Usui in Japan. He identified Reiki as an energy-healing practice that allows the flow of energy to calm your spirit and heal your body leading to your overall well being. I have been taught his technique to facilitate this healing energy.

Energy is defined as the strength and vitality required for sustained physical and mental activity. In many disciplines, energy is identified as Chi, Ki, or Life Force. In different cultures, they acknowledge the healing powers of energy to realign and rebalance the mind and body.

Energy is everywhere. We define every living thing by the way that it creates and focuses the life force that enables it to not only survive, but thrive. We require energy to support our body systems and functions. If the flow of energy is interrupted through anxiety and stress, this energy-healing process is interrupted as well; and we are not able to heal ourselves.

You sense energy. It is all around us. Sometimes you can feel the good or bad energy of a person or situation. You may not be able to explain that feeling; but you know that it is real and true. A walk on the beach, feeling the energy on your face or a warm spring rain consuming your being. You are, at once, at peace, yet invigorated.

This sense of peace and well-being is what the Reiki experience can provide to you. It is like charging a battery to enable the free flow of the life force to energize your body and mind. It fosters the re-alignment of all of your internal systems to operate as one to relieve stress and anxiety as the mind and body work together to heal you.

Feelings of anxiousness, stress, fearfulness, low self-esteem, exhaustion, depression, sadness, and fatigue can all benefit from a focused Reiki session that will re-align the body and mind to heal itself.
